Yesterday, Brenda, Anne, and Ella stopped by to visit us on their way to Charleston for the week for a family vacation. Kate and Ella had fun playing and eating lunch together! That little Ella is something else...such a beauty! She is only about 8 weeks older than Kate and is talking up a storm! Full sentences! They were too sweet playing together...wish we got to see you guys more!

Pretty girls! Kate, Anne, and Ella
Things are good here on the homefront. We went back to the doctor this past Thursday. Officially 32 weeks now. My goodness, how far we have come. Hard to believe we have been waging this battle for nearly 10 weeks now! How blessed we are to have reached this point. We got a pretty good report from the doctor. Matthew measured 3lbs12oz and John measured 3lbs15oz. Big boys for twins!! I am still feeling pretty good, although I have moments! I have times where I pray, "Lord, I think I have given all I can possibly give mentally, and physically!" But then, another day comes along and we just keep pressing forward. Even now, as far as we have come, each day they are able to stay in largely benefits them. My doctor really stressed to me the importance of trying to hang on for at least one more week, hopefully two. Then we may consider stopping all the medication I have been taking to stop labor, let me go into labor once again on my own, and deliver these babies after 33 or 34 weeks! I should mention that we have been told that some women who have been through experiences like this have continued to carry the babies to full-term, having to be induced. How crazy?! As for now, we are almost 100% looking at a C-section, so if/when I go into labor on my own will determine when the babies are born. My high-risk doctor told me at one point that if I get to 3-4 weeks out from my due date and still haven't had them, that we might do an amniocentesis to determine lung function, then deliver via C-section.
Mom has been great about coming by and helping us get things more settled with the house. We actually have a few pictures hung!! It does not take much to excite me these days. And we are beginning to pull all the baby things together as well. If you had walked into their room just 3 days ago, you would have never dreamed we were expecting babies any day now. Thankfully it is beginning to resemble an actual nursery now.
We are so ready to meet these two little ones, but I must say one of the things I am MOST excited about is being able to hold my little girl again. Whenever I do get up she runs up and reaches her arms up to me and says, "Up, up!" This breaks my heart to not be able to pick her up. BUT...still telling myself every minute of bed rest has been worth it if we are able to get her two little brothers here healthy and safe! Back to the doctor Tuesday this week...hoping for another good report! Each time we go now, we take our packed bags...

So glad you have accomplished 32 weeks! :) Sounds like they are a good weight and I know you are more than ready to have your body back and I can only imagine how hard it is to resist picking up Kate. She is so cute... that mouth is definately yours! :) Even though she had Joe's coloring and most probably say she looks just like her daddy, I see "little Amanda" every time I look at her pics! Hang in there, keeping all in prayers and thinking of you daily.
ReplyDeleteHey Amanda and Joe! Just sending encouragement and prayers your way! I delivered Nathan and Noah at 32 weeks and Nate was 5 lbs, Noah 3.2.. God is awesome and 20 months later they are good and healthy! Praying that they and you hang in there for a few more weeks!
ReplyDeleteAmanda . . . I had a similar experience with Rob (42 years ago). After taking shots every week for 7 months to keep from miscarrying, he missed his due date of Oct. 13th and finally they induced on Oct. 24th. X-ray showed a very large baby, fully developed and ready to be born . . . all 9 lbs, 10 oz. The doctor had told me after we had done so much to keep him, he might have a hard time turning loose. . . and he did! What a joy that you have done so well now and the boys are about ready to "turn loose". Looking forward to hearing the good news from Terry and Beverly soon. We continue in prayer for all of you . . . Aunt Rita
