Oh, salt, sand, and sun, how I have missed you! It had been nearly 2 years since I had been to the coast so this trip came as such a welcome respite. Last Saturday we packed up our entire lives (or so it seemed) and headed down to Harbor Island for a week at the beach. We had such a great week! Nana and Papa came along with us, and so did Casey. Quite a crew!
Packing was no joke. We debated getting one of those car top carriers. We didn't get a shot of Nana and Papa's car...it was just as full, if not more so.
Headed out!
We didn't do much other than hang out on the beach and eat, although we did manage to venture out a little. And did I mention we ate? Some of the things we did were drive over to Dataw Island, visit Fort Fremont on Port Royal Sound, walk around downtown Beaufort, and ride onto Hunting Island and see the lighthouse. We also got to see a sea turtle nest...a turtle came up on the beach right next to the house where we were staying and laid her eggs the first night we were there. Very cool!
About 2 days before we left Matthew started crawling, so this kept us a little busier, but so fun to watch him explore and get around on his own now! John is not far behind him...
We made it!

Hard to believe it's been a year! :'(
The 2nd or 3rd day we were there Tropical Storm Debby kept threatening rain, although it never really did come. Since there was nothing else to do I dressed Kate up and took her out on the beach for some pics.

Lunch time at the beach. No shoes, no shirts, no problems :)
One morning we rode over to nearby Hunting Island state park to check out the beach and the lighthouse there. It is a beautiful place! Wish we could have stayed a little longer, but the mosquitoes were terrible whenever you weren't on the beach!

Matthew was not into wearing his sun hat this week. John didn't seem to mind.
Sweetness...

John loved the pool
Casey sure loved the beach. I think we wore her slap out by the end of the week, but I think she was really thrilled to finally be able to go off with us for the week. She was so well-behaved and so easy to travel with. She even made a few friends of her own. Hard to believe she is going to be 7 years old this year...although it's starting to show in her gray little face. So glad she got to make this trip!
She would have done this all day, every day...
...and this...
...and this, too. My, how she loves him!
I think we wore Casey slap out. Here she is napping on the way home. Bless her heart she had to squeeze in wherever she could find the room :)
So grateful for a wonderful week of vacation! We have a busy few months coming up, but we love it. Life is keeping us on our toes, but I wouldn't have it any other way. We have a big birthday coming up in less than two weeks!

GREAT pics and great memories! Looks like ya'll had a great time!
